Does this pass through? meaning: could i put a pocket wizard (or other radio trigger) on top and be able to fire an off-camera flash?
I used this item when I'm recording video to have a better grip , but if you use this items whith a flash is not going to be able to communicate with the flash The camera it will not trigger the flash
Great question. This metal camera finger thumb grip didn't appear to have connectors on the bottom or top which would allow a "pass through". To confirm based on your question I just did a quick test. My thumb grip is on my Fujifilm X-Pro 1. I used a Calumet Pro Series 4 Channel wireless trigger transmitter on top of the Thumb grip which was attached to the camera. I attached a matching radio receiver to a Nikon SB-700 flash in manual mode on the flash. Pressing the shutter did not activate the trigger. I repeated this with Phottix Atlas II trigger and receiver with the same negative results. I removed the thumb grip and connected the triggers directly to the camera and the triggers worked perfectly. I don't use flash with the X-Pro 1 often because I use it mostly for street photography. My primary camera for everything else is a Nikon D600 and D7000. Hope this helps.
This item is a must if you're shooting with a mirrorless camera. The thumb rest improves the picture-taking experience 100%!
What a deal on a super item. Quality is first-rate. Love the fact I can now mount my auxiliary optical viewfinder on the thump rest.Buy it.
